Davao: Visiting for the First Time

Our country is blessed with a lot of things. Nice people and wonderful places. From our recent trip to Davao, I realized that the place had both. Courteous people and mother nature's beauty. To be honest, I only knew three things about Davao before. One is that it's in Mindanao, two is that it only rains once or twice a year and lastly, it gets very hot in the area during midday (before climate change, now it's a different story).

However, when we left Davao, I had a new insight. Davao is a different place. So different from other resorts, islands and provinces I'd been to. It's very quiet and calm. To be honest, I don't even know the right word that will exactly describe the place. So I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

Little Girl No More

Jess came with her family and it was a first. Mostly, it's just the main people to be shot who arrive and their friends. In some cases, they have a driver. But on that Sunday morning, we saw the closed-knit family together with their hyperactive boy and twins.

Jess is soon to become 18, but during the day of the shoot she still has that confused, dependent and unwilling look on her. But that happens. Unexpectedly, we found out that Jess was good at following directions. Even Alma was having fun teaching her how to pose and I was just happy holding the reflector and shielding us from the sun. It was a hot day. An hour later and she was already comfortable with us, the camera, the surrounding and the people around us. It doesn't take much persuasion and she was on fire.

Isiah Lucas Christening

We are naturally drawn to babies. How could we ever resist their charm when they are one of the most beautiful things in this world?

Eight months ago, Lucas Isiah was born. Eight months ago he brought sunshine to his mother and joy to his father. A few weeks ago, he was baptized. It was a huge event with his guests numbering to more than a hundred. And naturally, it lasted for more than two hours.

A happy baby boy.

Blue souvenirs. Cute aren't they?

Lucas with his Mom and Dad. See the sparks in their eyes?

Curious little boy.

And the godparents were all smiling! Oh happy day!
Welcome to the Christian world Lucas!

I was amazed that I never saw him cry nor squirm when someone cuddle him. He's neither a shy baby. His parents looked at him with love and his grandmother hugged him with delight. He was the apple of their eyes.

Love at Work Sight: Ramil and Laarni

It was a Sunday and even before the time I had to get up I was already wide awake. I was worried. It'd been raining all night. I could vividly hear the raindrops.

Then it was time and I could still hear the rain outside.A quick question to Laarni and it was settled. We had to proceed with the plans. The sky looked flat and bland. It was cloudless and colorless. It was drizzling. We moved from one location to another and made the best what we had.

Laarni had been specific, they were both camera shy. And in this time and age, it was hard to believe they were. But truth be told, they were really really shy. Everytime a bus arrived or passed by Ramil would not-so-subtly cover his face or turn around. But in time they both warmed up. And the photos could attest to that! It had been an easy day and we finished early. Everything ended well.

Laarni was so excited to see the Save the Date and send it to her friends, I had  to do it that night and I finished it in time.Thank goodness! She even liked it so much she asked for another one! Tee hee!

They made us smile too!

Love, is what they feel.

Julius and Yen: Sweet Love (Engagement/Prenup)

Yen is not the typical kind of girl. She doesn't always go with the usual. And so when she got engaged and it was time for the engagement photoshoots, she spent time thinking about the concept and locations. She knew that prenups are in right now, but she just didn't want to go with the flow. She wanted something different. And that was when she came up with the idea of telling a story in their engagement sessions. It had been fun with the couple being vibrant and carefree. With so much time in our hands, we shot in three different locations: Laguna, Makati and Quezon City. And I bet, Yen still has lots of ideas in her mind.

Yen's quest for fun and uniqueness extended to the table numbers. She incorporated them with the engagement photos and the results were great! Everyone contributed to the photoshoots which made the days light, easy and full of laughters. Rizelle, who was the designated photographer did well with all her candid shots. Julius and Yen loved them so much!
